    About Our Lawyers

    Brian Kramer

Brian graduated from the University of Michigan Law School with cum laude honors in 1994. He has had several academic accomplishments including being named as a Rotary Club Scholar which permitted him to study at a university in Japan for a year, winning the High School National Debate Championship Title in 1986, and being named as a member of the Golden Key Club and Phi Beta Kappa.

During the first ten years in practice, Brian worked for two prominent national law firms, including Latham & Watkins and Seyfarth Shaw, LLP. In 2005, Brian went to work for one of Los Angeles’ elite family law firms, and has since exclusively handled complex family law matters.

Brian’s background in family law and contract matters ideally situated him to prepare premarital and other matrimonial agreements. Because many preeminent family law attorneys in Southern California prefer not to do prenuptial or other matrimonial agreements, Brian and his colleagues decided to form L.A. Prenup Lawyer and the Brian J. Kramer Professional Corporation to cater to this niche area of the family law practice.

In addition to authoring articles, Brian has given lectures to other professionals about how their clients may benefit by entering into matrimonial agreements, and the following related subjects:

    · The art of the prenup – and the awkwardness of sitting across the bargaining table from your fiancée.

    · Want to really know who you are about to get into bed with? See how they react when you ask him or her to consider a prenup.

    · How the emerging law on spousal support waivers in California makes prenups potentially worth their weight in gold, and then some.

    · The most unusual clauses in Hollywood’s prenuptial agreements: from forcing lovers to climb on the scale to deciding where beloved Fido must go if the dog house must be divided.

    · Prenups – the myths and realities, and how to get one done without “blowing up the deal."

    · After hanging in there for so long what to do when you hear these dreaded words: “Honey I think we should get a prenup.”

    · Kill all the lawyers except for when you are doing a matrimonial agreement then, as supermarket magnate Ron Burkle can attest, make sure to find a matching his and hers set (ideally with Ivy League seals of approval too) – why the law favors independent counsel when it comes to matrimonial deals.

    · Why an increasing number of mature couples are dotting the prenuptial I’s and crossing the T’s before strolling off into the sunset.

    · How long can I safely wait before I get around to asking the hunk on the sofa or the babe in the spare bedroom to sign that cohabitation agreement?

Brian also authors the The Prenuptial Agreement Hall of Shame Blog: Prenups that Have Been Challenged Or Tossed Out of Court which is the only existing blog on the Worldwide Web that summarizes the holdings of recent California cases which have addressed the validity of prenuptial agreements.

Brian has represented numerous high net worth individuals, people engaged in all segments of the entertainment industry, various professionals, a general manager of a NBA franchise, and entrepreneurs engaged in many different industries. Brian is the founder of Kramer Law, A Professional Corporation which handles complex family law matters for clients throughout California.

    Mark Bloomenfeld

Mark has more than 25-years of family law experience. He holds the highest level “AV” peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbel. Prior to co-founding L.A. Prenup Lawyers, Mark worked at one of the well-known family law firms in Los Angeles, but was disappointed in their hesitancy to draft matrimonial agreements on behalf of their clients. “There is a fear among many of the other top family law attorneys in Los Angeles that preparing prenuptial agreements will result in them losing out on being the divorce attorney,” says Bloomenfeld. But both Bloomenfeld and Kramer see prenuptial agreements as a tool to strengthening relationships and “partnerships between spouses,” and would rather be involved in the positive energy that goes into forming such agreements then waiting for things to fall apart as unfortunately happens in over half of all marriages in California.

Mark is a highly regarded mediator in the family law arena, and his skills as a mediator have served him well in negotiating prenuptial agreements on behalf of his clients. Mark was one of the co-founders of the Cooperative Divorce Center in Los Angeles, an organization that offers alternative dispute resolution services to people involved in family law disputes.
